The artillery that had been shelling Donetsk for years came under fire
In the early morning of October 10, several military commanders from the field immediately reported an “unprecedented force of attack” on the positions of Ukrainian troops in Avdiivka. From this suburb of Donetsk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been shelling residential areas of the capital of Donbass for 9 years.
According to the channel “Military Correspondents of the Russian Spring”, since five in the morning there has been a “monstrous roar” near Donetsk. A combined attack is being carried out on Avdeevka with aerial bombs, multiple launch rocket systems, and artillery. The positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are covered in black smoke from strong fires: the batteries that shelled Donetsk are being destroyed.
The channel cites the testimony of a resident of Donetsk: “The plaster is falling from the ceiling, the house is jumping. Even for us, who are used to it, this is horror.” Summary: “It has begun.”
In turn, the Military Chronicle channel suggested that the Ukrainian Armed Forces troops were caught that night trying to rotate personnel. The strikes are carried out on warehouses, Ukrainian artillery firing positions and hangars with equipment. «The earth is shaking.»
Military correspondent Evgeniy Poddubny wrote in his channel that “there hasn’t been such artillery barrage in the Avdiivka direction for a long time.”
The day before it was reported that gliding bombs had struck Ukrainian Armed Forces targets in territory of the Coke and Chemical Plant in Avdeevka. In this industrial zone there are underground shelters where Ukrainian Grads and howitzers are hiding, shelling Donetsk.
