How at least 23 people became victims of an Israeli army airstrike in Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip, RIA Novosti reports citing material from the Al Mayadeen TV channel.
Reportedly, most of the dead were children.
“The death toll from the Israeli bombing in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip has risen to 23, most of whom were children,” the channel said.
Previously, UN Children's Fund spokesman James Elder said that Gaza has become a “graveyard for children.” The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said he was shocked by reports of attacks on emergency vehicles in Gaza.
Also in a joint document by the UN Children's Fund, the World Health Organization and UNRWA, it was stated that in the Gaza Strip, women are forced to give birth on the streets and in shelters while hospitals are overcrowded. It was also noted that the work of medical institutions was seriously disrupted due to bombing, mass displacement of residents, lack of water, electricity, medicine and food. UN agencies note that this puts the lives and health of mothers and children at risk.
