MOSCOW, April 3 State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin pointed out the impressive results in the development of agriculture and thanked the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev for “real services from year to year.”
«As for the development of agriculture… For the first time in many years, even decades, such a result has been achieved… And therefore, when we sum up the results, we must honestly admit: the result is impressive… And today we must say thank you to Minister Patrushev, very a modest minister, but there are real merits here year after year. And there is no theme of crop failure,» Volodin said during the government report in the State Duma on Wednesday.
Volodin noted that Russia never, even during the Soviet period, had such results in agriculture: “we didn’t eat enough, we bought grain in Canada, there was always a crop failure, then drought, we went to Moscow for sausage, empty shelves , all this happened, all this happened in the nineties too.” The State Duma speaker indicated that Russian President Vladimir Putin, from the first steps of his presidency, began to pay attention to food security issues.
