MAKHACHKALA, August 15Archaeologists have found 17th-century plates during excavations on the territory of the ancient Naryn-Kala fortress in Derbent, which were presumably used by the Khan's court, the city's mayor Akhmed Kuliev reported on his Telegram channel.
Since the beginning of June, archaeological excavations have been underway on the territory of the Naryn-Kala fortress. A group of scientists led by Vladimir Koval, head of the medieval archeology department at the Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, are studying the area around the cross-domed structure of the 6th-17th centuries.
«»The expedition continues to work around the cross-domed structure in the Naryn-Kala fortress. Interesting exhibits from the 17th century have already been found — Chinese, Persian and local plates. As scientists assume, they could have been used for the needs of the khan's court,» Kuliev said.
The head of the press service of the Derbent administration, Telman Radzhabov, clarified that archaeologists have found four plates. According to him, scientists assume that Fatali Khan could have used them.
