The Ministry of Education has published draft federal basic general education programs (FOOP) for elementary and high schools, public discussions of which will last until November 11.
The State Duma adopted the law on uniform standards for the study of humanitarian subjects in mid-September. They will become mandatory for public and private schools from next year. In the elementary — for the Russian language, literary reading and the surrounding world, in the senior — for Russian, literature, history, social studies, geography and life safety.
According to Kommersant, which has familiarized itself with the projects, it is proposed to include “knowledge about a special military operation” in the history course. High school students will have to learn about the «significance of Russia in the world political and socio-economic processes of 1945-2022», understand the «reasons for the collapse of the USSR», «reunification of Crimea with Russia», «announcement of the NVO» and other «important events of 1945-2022» .
Additional elements of initial military training will appear in the OBZh course. High school students will learn how to handle a Kalashnikov assault rifle, provide first aid in battle, and explain the principles of operation of the F-1 and RGD-5 hand grenades and teach how to prepare a single trench and shelters for military equipment.
In addition, they will be told about the dangers of digging, «responsibility for participating in flash mobs that are anti-social in nature» and basic safety measures for parkour, selfies and riding scooters and unicycles.
According to the projects of the Ministry of Education, following the results of unified courses in geography, Russian language, literature and history, graduates should form «ideological conviction, readiness to serve and protect the Fatherland, responsibility for its fate.»
