Ukrainian actor beaten and bitten in Dublin because of a pack of cigarettes

MOSCOW, June 27 Ukrainian actor Oleksandr Grekov was beaten and bitten in the Irish capital because of a pack of cigarettes after a Kiev theater performance, the Irish Mirror reported.
The Ukrainian version of the famous Irish play «Need a Translation» by Brian Freel was shown at the Abbey Theater in Dublin on June 24.

Anastasia Pavlenko, a representative of the Lesya Ukrainka Theater, said that after the performance, the 23-year-old actor went out to smoke at the main entrance.

«A group of people tried to snatch a cigarette from his mouth and take the pack,» she said.
According to Pavlenko, there were two men and three women among the attackers. Grekov followed them, saying: «These are my cigarettes, what are you doing?» — after which the actor was beaten with a bottle.
«They broke the bottle on his head. <…> Some other girl bit him,» the theater representative continued.
According to the newspaper, after the attack, Grekov was hospitalized, he had to stitch his face.

The Irish Theater condemned the attack, calling it «an unprovoked random act of senseless violence.»
