Russian figure skater Pyotr Gumennik was not allowed to perform at the test skates of the Russian national team to the Rammstein track, as it was “unpatriotic”; as a result, the young man showed last year’s short program. His coach Veronica Daineko spoke about this in the comments on VKontakte.
In the fan public “#SVOEFK” two days ago a post appeared about the end of the first day of skating, on the same day one of the users wrote under the post, that he regrets that Gumennik was not able to perform a new number. Another woman suggested that this happened “most likely because of politics.”
Daineko explained that the day before leaving for the skates, the head coach of the group, Tamara Moskvina, approached her and showed her an email sent by Evgeny Kartushin to the Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin and sent to the federations of all winter sports. According to Radio Liberty, a person with that name administers the fan club of the Russian figure skater Sofia Samodelkina.
“Meaning <…> (letters – MZ) was that Ramstein is unpatriotic, bad and the like. With a request to restore order in those sports that use musical accompaniment,” the coach explained the essence of the letter. According to her, Moskvina refused to forward her the message and said that “this is a matter of national importance.”
Judging by Daineko’s message, the skater was not prohibited from directly using music. “Our federation said that it was not advisable to ride under Ramstein, but there were no threats that we would be punished,” she added. The coach couldn’t come up with a routine to replace the one that the skater had been preparing for four months, so he performed with last year’s one. In addition, she could not figure out how to defend the music without having a copy of the letter.
One of the most famous Soviet coaches, Tatyana Tarasova, also spoke out on the topic of the incident. “I really liked Peter’s program. Music recommendations? Just not from the illiterate people who write these letters. Why they changed the program, if the FFKKR did not prohibit this, is their own business. But they don’t fight for themselves,” she said.
At the same time, Soviet figure skater and State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina supported the recommendation not to use Rammstein tracks. In her opinion, the skater “will choose the music more carefully next time.” The Olympic champion believes: “You have to think about what you bet on your program.”
In April 2021, the former coordinator of Navalny’s Arkhangelsk headquarters, Andrei Borovikov, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in the case of distributing pornography via the Internet ( paragraph “b” of Part 3 of Article 242 of the Criminal Code) because of the video for the song Pussy by Rammstein, which the oppositionist added to the saved videos on VKontakte.
