President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that allows the presentation of identification documents in the State Services application instead of a paper passport. The corresponding document was published on the official portal of legal acts.
“To establish that the submission by citizens of the Russian Federation of information contained in identity documents of a citizen of the Russian Federation, or other documents issued to citizens of the Russian Federation by state bodies of the Russian Federation, in electronic form using the mobile application of the federal state information system «Unified portal of state and municipal services (functions)» is equivalent, in cases determined by the government of the Russian Federation in agreement with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, to the presentation of the specified documents,” the decree says.
According to the document, the presentation of documents through Gosuslugi “is carried out voluntarily.”
Putin also instructed the government, within three months, in agreement with the FSB, to determine a list of documents that can be presented using the application.
