ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 5 A resident of the Astrakhan region set fire to a car, the driver of which, as he thought, splashed him with mud, but it turned out that the car belonged to a neighbor, reports the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs by region.
Early on Tuesday morning, the police received information that a VAZ car worth 190 thousand rubles had burned down in the courtyard of an apartment building in the Leninsky district. Police interviewed eyewitnesses and detained a man possibly involved in the fire.
The Astrakhan resident was taken to the police department, where he said that the day before he had been walking along the sidewalk to visit his friend , but on the way he was doused with liquid mud by a passing car.
«An angry man saw that a stranger had parked a car in the same yard where his friend lived and decided to take revenge — to set the car on fire. However, he mixed up the cars and set fire to the innocent vehicle the neighbor of his offender, who, by an unfortunate coincidence, had a similar car,” the report says.
The examination confirmed the fact of deliberate arson. A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under the article “Deliberate destruction or damage to property by arson.”
