MOSCOW, December 8 Rostelecom paid windfall tax in the amount of about 700 million rubles, the company’s first vice-president Sergei Anokhin told reporters on the sidelines of the Rostelecom Tech Day conference.
““They paid at the end of November. About 700 million,” Anokhin said.
Earlier in December, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov announced that the Russian budget received 305 billion rubles from companies under the excess profit tax; expectations from this measure worked. At the same time, Siluanov expressed confidence that some budget replenishment due to companies paying excess profit tax can be expected until the end of 2023.
The Russian authorities have introduced for large companies whose average pre-tax profit for 2021-2022 exceeded 1 billion rubles, the so-called excess profit tax, which is 10% of the amount of excess profit for 2021-2022 over the same figure for 2018-2019. The tax must be paid by January 28, 2024; its amount could be halved if a security payment was transferred between October 1 and November 30, 2023.
In total, the Russian authorities planned to raise 300 billion rubles into the federal budget through the excess profit tax.
