The premiere of the new generation Mitsubishi frame pickup truck took place last summer, it was held in its production homeland — Thailand, where the model is called Triton (in some markets, including Russia, the frame is known as L200). At the same time, it was reported that the truck would return to Japan after a 12-year hiatus. Pre-orders for the new Mitsubishi Triton in the Land of the Rising Sun began to be accepted at the end of December, where it also bears the name Triton. So now the start of “live” sales on the home market has been announced. At the same time, Mitsubishi boasted of the first successes of the pickup truck.

In less than two months, the new Triton collected approximately 1,300 applications in Japan (data as of February 13), while the company expected to sell only 200 cars per month in its homeland. And this despite the fact that the pickup truck is available to the Japanese only in two expensive trim levels: GLS and GSR with a four-door cab, a 204-horsepower 4N16 2.4 turbodiesel combined with an automatic transmission and Super Select 4WD-II all-wheel drive. In Thailand, for example, the truck still comes with a single-row or one-and-a-half cab; rear-wheel drive versions are also sold there; the diesel engine has three power options (150 hp, 184 hp or 204 hp), plus a manual is provided.< br />

In Japan, the default pickup truck has LED optics, 18-inch wheels, heated steering wheel and front seats, climate control, a multimedia system with a 9-inch tablet, a 7-inch color screen in the dash, adaptive cruise control , auto braking and lane keeping systems. The GSR version also features a body-colored radiator grille frame with horizontal slats, black glossy lining on the wheel arches, leather upholstery and electrically adjustable driver's seat.
