UFA, August 5 Three workers died in a gas-air mixture fire on the territory of an enterprise in Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan; a criminal case has been opened, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region reports.
«The preliminary investigation established that on August 5, on the territory of one of the enterprises of the city of Sterlitamak, during work on dismantling an old pipeline in an industrial building, a gas-air mixture ignited, as a result of which three workers received thermal burns, from which they died at the scene of the incident,» the press release says.
Investigators opened a criminal case under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous industrial facilities, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence.»
«The head and investigators of the investigative department, as well as forensic investigators from the investigative department, together with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other emergency services, have arrived at the scene of the incident. The specialists will establish the causes of the fire. During the investigation, the actions of those responsible for compliance with safety requirements at the hazardous production facility will be given a legal assessment,» the department added.
