BELGRADE, Aug. 17 The Serbian authorities expect new negotiations on natural gas supplies from Russia and the most favorable conditions in the fall, said Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia visited Russia on a working visit on August 12-15, during which he held a conversation with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev.
«Our agreement on gas supplies at preferential prices expires in May next year, and we talked about starting negotiations on an extension in September, because there is no reason to wait. We expect the agreement to be extended, that we will receive the best and most favorable conditions and, of course, that the Russian Federation appreciates everything that Serbia has done thanks to the policy of President (Aleksandar — ed.) Vucic and the principled position on refusing to impose sanctions against the Russian Federation,» Vulin said on Radio and Television of Serbia, adding that the Serbs will not forget that they have been on the same side with Russia for centuries.
In 2023, Russia supplied Serbia with 2.68 billion cubic meters of gas, and in 2024 the volume of supplies should exceed 3 billion cubic meters, the head of the state-owned company Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic said in March.
Last year, Bayatovich also spoke about an agreement with Gazprom to increase the volume of supplies in the winter from 6 million cubic meters to 11 million cubic meters per day. These conditions are valid under the agreement until June 2025, and the price is calculated using the oil formula, which makes this gas, according to Bajatovic, the cheapest in Europe — about $300 per 1,000 cubic meters.
