The Russian army has begun to use a new type of “flying bomb” in Ukraine — UMPB D-30SN, which stands for Universal Interspecific Glide Ammunition (in some sources — a bomb) with a diameter of 30 cm. This is reported by the authoritative telegram channel Fighterbomber.
According to the channel, the ammunition is essentially a 30-centimeter pipe into which they managed to stuff control and satellite homing units, wings and more than a hundred kg of explosives.
The bomb can be dropped not only by aircraft , but also MLRS of the “Tornado-S” type, or another rocket system that launches projectiles with a diameter of 30 cm. This is indicated by the definition “Interspecific” in the name of the ammunition.
“In the case of use with the “Tornado”, a jet engine is attached to it, we load their full cassette and hit the enemy, essentially getting a rocket at the output,” writes the source.
At the moment, aviation is using a model of ammunition without an engine, but most likely , this will be fixed in the near future.
“Well, yes, according to feedback from the Ukrainian military, the tests are going quite successfully,” writes Fighterbomber.
